Action Gymnastics wins Level 6 Title

Metro Denver gymnasts kicked off their fall competition season at Action Gymnastics of Evergreen on Sept. 12 with the Heroes Memorial Classic.

The meet was dedicated to Americans who serve their country - the armed forces, police force and firefighters, and in remembrance of the victims of Sept. 11, 2001. The meet march-in was led by Jason Blankenburg of the Marines 2nsd Battalion, 24th Division.

A total of 143 gymnasts competed in the USAG Levels 4, 5 and 6, from six metro Denver teams:

• CATS Gymnastics of Boulder
• Denver School of Gymnastics
• Gymnastics Plus of Denver
• Gymnastics Unlimited of Northglenn
• Jet Gymnastics of Littleton, and
• Action Gymnastics of Evergreen

Action Gymnastics sent 25 gymnasts to the meet. Action's Madison Amann won the Level 6 all-around competition with a score of 34.40. Action Gymnastics won the Level 6 team competition.

The Level 5 all-around champions, competing in two sessions, were Julia O'Brien of CATS of Boulder with a score of 35.70 and Brooke Connelly of Gym Plus of Denver with a score of 36.50. CATS Gymnastics of Boulder and Gymnastics Plus of Denver prevailed in the two Level 5 team competition sessions.

In Level 4, Abby Schwartz of Gym Plus of Denver won the all-around competition with a score of 35.575. Gym Plus of Denver also took the Level 4 team competition.

Chip Blankenburg founded Action Gymnastics in 2006. Action Gymnastics started with one coach and five students in a 1,000-square foot warehouse in the Clear Creek Technology Center. Last November, Action moved into its current gym of 8,500-square feet at the top of the El Rancho commercial area. Action Gymnastics now has five coaches, 28 team gymnasts, and over 200 recreational gymnasts in its programs.
